Ideas??

Hi...It's Abby's Mom....

I am totally baffled...Yesterday, Abby told you how she had jumped thru the screen & was outside when I got home...Thank Goodness, I got home when I did...

Well...Today, when I got home there was evidence that she had been running all over the dining room table &, I think, trying to jump thru the window...We have a 1/2 wall on one side of our dining room & she had jumped up on the table next to it & knocked everything off the 1/2 wall...

She had almost knocked everything off a little table in the living room, too...And, she had knocked over the garbage can...

This is so out of character for Abby...She is normally very quiet & calm...I just don't know what has gotten into her...Frankly, I'm a bit concerned...

If anyone has any ideas what might be causing this drastic change in her behavior, please share them with me...

Thanks,
Pat

Hmmm...Have you been gone more than usual, has anything in your daily routine changed??? Maybe a bit of separation anxiety?? Bilbo does this kind of thing when he knows I am outside the house and he can't get to me.

If you have a regular vet you may want to give them a call just to put your mind at ease!

Good Luck and feel free to email me with any concerns!

Is there a new dog in your neighborhood, or...A CAT! If Abby sees something outside that disturbs her, that might be a contributing factor? Wish we could be more help.

Abby, Abby, Abby. *sigh* Don't stress your Momma so - they get stressed So Easily. (Fi's Mom here: I agree with all of the above - talking to a vet wouldn't hurt if there isn't anything noticeably new in the neighborhood. Good luck.)

Not sure either, if you are gone more than usual now that could cause it, or there may be something outside too, or maybe inside? I think she may just be going through a crazy phase. =)

I still think the squirrels have hypnotized her....BOL

Talk with your vet and maybe try long lasting toys. A kong or greenies hidden so she has something occupy her mind.

Yes, maybe there is something outside that is causing her to feel stressed.
I hope you figure it out soon!
Take care

We believe that something inside or outside the home may be causing this. There was some change in the routine of Abby?

Maybe she needs more exercise. We're better if we can run around in the morning (at the doggie park) or take a long walk. Then we're too tired to get in trouble.

p.s. Abby sure did a good job on that screen. Very talented. Good thing she was safe.

Katkoota here (S&C mommy):

I am not sure

My malts gets more active at home (sometimes, with unwanted and naughty behavior at home) if they missed their "before mommy leaves home" long walks. My older brother makes sure to give them these walks before he leaves them at this period.

Will that work for Abby? Did anything in her routine change? Did you have to leave the house longer than usual?

I hope you can find it out ;) good luck and give my kisses to Abby

Too bad you cannot install the Abby-cam to see what is going on. Maybe on your next day off from work you will be able to see what is happening.

Any way somebody can check on her during the day to at least try and figure out when it is happening?

I wonder if a there is some alarm accidentally beeping at your house or your neighbors.

She could have been chasing away someone trying to break in.

I get very worked up when I see another pup or kitty walk by when I'm home during the day. Any construction work or strange noises going on around the house? My parents keep threatening to put up a Webcam, but I think I would just knock that thing down. It might work for Abby, though. :)

Maybe poor Abby got scared by something.

The only thing we can think of is that she is hearing something outside.
Our last dog used to go mad when the window cleaners called - even when I cancelled them he would still go mad when they were in the neighbourhood.
Sorry we cant think what it might be - hope she settles back down.
It might be worse leaving her in another part of the house for a few days.

There must be something outside that she wants to get. Too bad you can't set up a camera to see what she is doing.

Don't know what Abby's problem might be ( sounds like separation anxiety) but she sure seems agitated about somethin'....ya know my Mom was actin' strange lately and when we were at the cottage the last time all she did was stay upstairs in the bed....didn't want ta play ball...didn't want ta go outside at all. Gram finally took 'er fer a few walks all by herself, took 'er over ta Grandma Judy's all by herself and she is finally feelin' like 'er old self. Gram's readin' some books now on Holistic dog care 'n there's a correlation between what goin' on in yer house and family 'n how the family pet acts....anythin' different or stressful in yer world ?????

She didn't get any vaccines lately did she?????

I do not like to be home alone - makes me crazy, and I am not even alone! I have a sister and 2 cats. So, mom bought me a super-duper big crate. I like it there. She gives me one of those kong balls with the ridges and the 2 holes. I get food in the ball and peanut butter spread in the ridges. keeps me happy. i love my crate and I don't get hurt trying to get out the door. I think i would probably try a window too...

I'd agree that there may be something outside the window that is bothering her. We hope she is ok!
